Bleeding Combine Fuel System
Air can enter the fuel system when changing filters or running out of fuel. Air in the system could prevent engine from starting. If engine will not start in a couple attempts, use the following procedure to bleed the filter.
Turn key switch to the run position so electric fuel shut off valve is opened.
Loosen, but do not remove water separator plug (A) .
Open the fuel shut off valve (B). Fuel should fill the water separator. If water separator does not fill with fuel, pump the hand primer on the injection pump.
Tighten the water separator plug once the air is out of the filter and a steady stream of fuel is present.
Loosen, but do not remove, filter bleed plug (C).
Loosen fuel supply pump primer (D) until it can be pulled upward.
Turn ignition key on so electric pump can help hand priming.
Pump primer until fuel appears at bleed plug.
Tighten bleed plug. Push primer down and tighten.
Start the engine and check for leaks. If engine does not start, repeat bleeding at the fuel filter bleed plug.
