Attaching Row-Crop Head to 4420 (600001-     ), 4425 and 4435 Combines

IMPORTANT: Lock pin (A) (both sides) must be moved in before attaching header. Move pin by sliding stop bolt (B) in and down. If pins are left in the out position, feeder house will be damaged when header is attached.

If belt pickup or platform was used prior to using row-crop head, pressure line and return line for belt pickup or reel drive must be connected together on the feeder house.

The following changes should be done before attaching the row-crop head to the combine:

  • Adjust Feeder Conveyor "Float".
  • Adjust Feeder Conveyor Drive Chain on Variable Speed Feeder House.
  • Add Steering Wheel Weights.
  • Adjust Front Wheel Spacing.
  • Adjust Chopper Knives (if equipped).
  • Tighten Straw Spreader Drive Belt (if equipped).
  • Use Recommended Sieve and Chaffer.
  • Install Cylinder Filler Plates.
  • Install Perforated Parts (Attachments). See your combine operator's manual.

Sound horn, start engine and lower feeder house.

Drive forward slowly until feeder house is centered in row-crop head opening. Raise feeder house, lifting row-crop head all the way up. Shut off engine, set parking brake and remove key.

Disconnect chain (A) and lower safety stop (B) on cylinder.

NOTE: (Both Sides) Loosen mating lock plate (B) on row-crop head to let lock pin lock and center into header. Torque nut on lock plate (B) to specification.

Specification

Nut -Torque 230 N·m (170 lb-ft)

(Both Sides) Slide and pivot stop bolt (A) up, and out to lock pin into header.

Connect DIAL-A-MATIC ™ harness if equipped.

Connect both variable feeder house hoses at couplers (A) on left side of feeder house.

Sound horn, start engine and move feeder house speed lever forward to close top variable sheaves. Shut off engine, set parking brake and remove key.

IMPORTANT: Hoses must be connected when using a row-crop header. Connect combine pressure hose to return hose as shown. If connection is not made, hydraulic system can be damaged by overheating from constant operation of relief valve. To prevent hose damage, store hoses as shown.
