Attaching Row Crop Head to 6620, 7720, 7721 and 8820 Combines (600001-     )

IMPORTANT: Lock pin (A) (both sides) must be moved in before attaching header. Move pin by sliding stop bolt (B) in and down. If pins are left in the out position, feeder house will be damaged when mounting header is attached.

NOTE: If belt pickup or platform was used prior to using row-crop head, pressure line and return line for belt pickup or reel drive must be connected together on the feeder house.

Install coupler on lower feeder house shaft as follows:

NOTE: Two couplers, shipped with the feeder house, are used on the 653A, 654A, 655A and 853A Row-Crop heads. An extra coupler is shipped with the 8820 Combine and must be installed on the left-hand row-crop shaft as follows:

(Not illustrated) Remove snap ring on left-hand drive shaft. Save snap ring.

Slide off coupler sprocket and shield.

Install quick coupler (A) with shield and retain with snap ring (B).

Sound horn, start engine and lower feeder house.

Move combine slowly forward until feeder house is centered in row-crop head opening. Raise feeder house, lifting row-crop head all the way up. Shut off engine, set parking brake and remove key.

Disconnect chain (A) and lower hydraulic cylinder safety stop (B) on lift cylinder.

(Both Sides) Pivot stop bolt (A) up to let lock pin lock into header.

NOTE: Loosen mating lock plate (B) on row-crop head to let lock pin center. Retighten lock plate.

(Both Sides) Wrap chain around sprockets, slide coupler over sprockets and chain, then position shield over coupler.

Connect DIAL-A-MATIC ™ harness if equipped.

Reel lift hose (A) must be connected to connector on bracket for use of variable feeder house drive. When hose is disconnected from fitting, use cap (B) and plug (C) to cover open hose ends.

Sound horn, start engine and move feeder house speed lever forward to close top variable sheaves. Shut off engine, set parking brake and remove key.

IMPORTANT: Hoses must be connected when using a row-crop header. Connect the combine pressure hose to return hose as shown (A). If connection is not made, hydraulic system can be damaged as constant operation of relief valve will cause overheating. To prevent hose damage, store hoses as shown.
