Attaching Row-Crop Head to Sidehill 9500 and Sidehill 9510 Combine

IMPORTANT: Lock pin (A) must be positioned "in" before attaching header. If pins are left in the "out" position, feeder house will be damaged when header is attached.

Sound horn, start engine, lower feeder house and move variable speed feeder house lever to the slowest speed.

Drive combine slowly forward until feeder house is centered in row-crop head opening. Raise feeder house, shut off engine and remove key. Pivot blocks (B) on feeder house must be seated in pockets under top beam of platform.

IMPORTANT: Reel drive hoses (A) must be connected together in storage position before using row-crop head. If connection is not made, hydraulic system can be damaged by overheating from constant operation of relief valve. To prevent damage, store hoses as shown.

If belt pickup or platform was used prior to using row-crop head, pressure line and return line for belt pickup or reel drive must be connected together on the feeder house.

The following changes should be done before attaching the row-crop head to the combine:

  • Adjust Feeder Conveyor "Float".
  • Adjust Feeder Conveyor Drive Chain on Variable Speed Feeder House.
  • Add Steering Wheel Weights.
  • Adjust Front Wheel Spacing.
  • Adjust Chopper Knives (if equipped).
  • Tighten Straw Spreader Drive Belt (if equipped).
  • Use Recommended Sieve and Chaffer.
  • Install Cylinder Filler Plates.
  • Install Perforated Parts (Attachments). See your combine operator's manual.

Pivot stop handle down to let lock pin (A) lock into header. The lock pin must extend thru latch plate (B), if not; turn plate over. The latch plate must contact surface (C). Tolerances may require that latch plates be installed differently on left-and right-hand side.

IMPORTANT: Header may detach from combine if latch plate is not in place.

Remove right-hand side feeder house shield.

Install drive shaft on feeder house drive shaft. Torque cap screws (A) to specifications.

Raise shield (A) on platform drive shaft and install other end of drive on platform drive shaft. Torque cap screws (B) to specifications.

Cap Screws -Torque 130 N·m (95 lb-ft)

Lower shield on platform drive shaft and reinstall right-hand side feeder house shield.

Install second drive shaft on left-hand side of feeder house and platform drive shaft.
