Attaching Row-Crop Head to Sidehill 6620 Combine (600001-610000)

IMPORTANT: Lock pin (A) (both sides) must be moved in before attaching header. Move pin by sliding stop bolt (B) in and down. If pins are left in the out position, feeder house will be damaged when header is attached.

If belt pickup or platform was used prior to using row-crop head, pressure line and return line for belt pickup or reel drive must be connected together on the feeder house.

The following changes should also be done before attaching the row-crop head to the combine:

  • Adjust Feeder Conveyor "Float".
  • Adjust Feeder Conveyor Drive Chain on Variable Speed Feeder House.
  • Add Steering Wheel Weights.
  • Adjust Front Wheel Spacing.
  • Adjust Chopper Knives (if equipped).
  • Tighten Straw Spreader Drive Belt (if equipped).
  • Use Recommended Sieve and Chaffer.
  • Install Cylinder Filler Plates.
  • Install Perforated Parts (Attachments). See your combine operator's manual.

Sound horn, start engine and lower feeder house.

Drive forward slowly until feeder house is centered in row-crop head opening. Raise feeder house, lifting row-crop head all the way up. Shut off engine, set parking brake and remove key.

Disconnect chain (A) and lower safety stop (B) on cylinder.

Pivot stop bolt (A) up, allowing lock pin to lock into row-crop head. Repeat on other side.

NOTE: Loosen mating lock plate (B) on the row-crop head, to allow the lock pin to center. Retighten lock plate.

Install telescoping drive shaft between row-crop head and feeder house.

Tighten cap screw (B) on inner end of telescoping drive shaft and install cap screw (A), lock washer and nut through other end.

Repeat steps 5 and 6 on other side if necessary.

Connect header height control harness if equipped.

Connect both variable feeder house hoses at quick-disconnect couplers (A) on the left side of the feeder house.

Sound horn, start combine engine and move the variable speed feeder house control lever to close the top variable sheaves. Shut off engine, set parking brake and remove key.

IMPORTANT: Hoses must be connected when using a row-crop head. Connect combine pressure hose to return hose as shown. If connection is not made, hydraulic system can be damaged by overheating from constant operation of relief valve. To prevent hose damage, store hoses as shown.
