Adjusting Gathering Belt Tension

IMPORTANT: When operating in rocky conditions, set skid shoes for a high cut and frequently check gathering belts and chains for damage. Installation of rock deflectors is recommended. See your John Deere dealer.

Loosen jam nut (A) and tighten adjusting bolt (B) until specified force applied to drive chain midway between drive and idler sprockets deflects chain to specification.

Specification

Sprockets -Force 90 N (20 lb)
Chain -Deflection 2-7 mm (3/32-9/32 in)

Tighten jam nut (A).

Loosen jam nut (C) and tighten adjusting bolt (E) until specified force applied midway between drives and idler sprockets deflects chain to specification.

Specification

Sprockets -Force 90 N (20 lb)
Chain -Deflection 13-25 mm (1/2-1 in)

Tighten jam nut (D).
