Adjusting Auger Height

A 6 to 13 mm (1/4 to 1/2-in.) clearance between auger flights and the bottom of the auger sump is required for most crops and conditions. Sunflowers and grain sorghum require up to 25 mm (1-in.) more clearance.

Adjust as follows:

Loosen nut (A) and move auger drive chain tightener up.

To raise auger, make the following adjustments on both sides of row-crop head:

Loosen nuts (B) and (C).

Tighten nut (D).

Tighten nuts (B) and (C).

To lower auger, make the following adjustments on both sides of row-crop head.

Loosen nuts (B) and (D).

Tighten nut (C).

Tighten nuts (B) and (D).

Check auger forward and rearward position and adjust if necessary.

Adjust auger drive chain tightener so chain will operate without climbing or jumping sprockets.

Tighten nut (A).

Rotate auger by hand to see that auger fingers and flighting clear bottom and strippers.
