2. Remove nuts (A), carriage bolts and bracket (B).

3. Loosen jam nut (A) and adjusting bolt (B).

4. Remove cap screws (A) and chain guard (B).

5. Remove nut (A), cap screw, and cap screw (B), adjustment unit (C).

NOTE: A gatherer chain can be repaired by replacing the 2-ply rubber fabric. One of the fabric plies is thicker than the other. Install the THICKER ply (A) so it contacts the crop. 6. Remove belt (A). NOTE: A new gatherer belt and chain from service parts will be stiff and chain rollers will not turn freely. This condition is normal for new parts. Chain will wear and loosen during operation. 7. Install gathering belt.

8. Position belt on sprockets so the lug attachment link (A) the chain is centered between the attachment links (B) of the mating chain within 9.5 mm (3/8-in.).

9. Install adjustment unit (C) and retain with cap screw (B), nut (A) and cap screw.

10. Install chain guide and retain with cap screws (A).

11. Tighten adjustment bolt (B) and jam nut (A). (See "ADJUSTING GATHERER BELT").

12. Attach bracket (B) with round head bolts and nuts (A).
