General Information
The strength of a draper platform is its uniform/consistent crop delivery to the combine. Like most machines, the draper's ability to provide this capability is influenced by crop conditions and machine adjustments. Because draper adjustment techniques are somewhat different than conventional cutting platforms, the following general guidelines are provided to increase the operator's awareness of the factors which affect platform performance and to help determine initial settings.
Later in this section, you will find additional specific guidelines to help you set your header for certain adverse or unique crops or conditions.
When cutting close to the ground, it is important to avoid over-lowering the combine feeder house. The main frame gauge wheels will stabilize the main frame (if equipped), but the independent attachment frame and combine feeder house can continue to lower.
Further lowering of combine feeder house will drive the attachment frame, springs, and center draper pan into the ground pushing soil and will result in draper pan damage.
