Gauge Wheel Settings

NOTE: Never back up the combine with the cutterbar or gauge wheels contacting the ground. The draper belts can become jammed with foreign material which will cause damage to belts, gauge wheels and center draper bottom pan. Always raise platform clear of the ground before backing up.

Gauge wheels are used to maintain a level cut regardless of the terrain (hills, valleys, ruts, etc.) that the combine tires may run through. The recommended operating range for the control wheel air bags is 30-80 psi with a maximum allowable pressure of 100 psi. In flat, hard surface fields 30 psi in each air bag is adequate. However, if the field becomes more hilly, soft or rocky, increase the air bag pressure in 20 psi increments until the platform maintains a level cut.
