Leveling Platform Suspension

Proper leveling of the draper platform suspension system places the draper main frame in the correct relationship with the frame which connects the draper to the combine. This operation corrects for small variations in the suspension springs and insures future adjustments made with the turnbuckle (see Operating the Platform section) will not compromise draper performance. Once this adjustment is made, there should be no reason to make additional suspension leveling adjustments.

IMPORTANT: Failure to properly make and maintain this adjustment may lead to feeding problems and result in machine damage.

1. Make sure combine is on a level surface.

2. Raise platform off ground.

IMPORTANT: Turnbuckle length must be temporarily set to 493 mm (19.5 in.) while vertical top beam spacing is set.

3. Set turnbuckle length to 493 mm (19.5 in.).

IMPORTANT: Tightening the leveling screw will increase the drop from side belt to center belt, improving platform feeding.

4. Lay a straight edge across the top of the attachment frame and extend it to the platform main frame.

OUO6075,000145E -19-16FEB01-2/4

IMPORTANT: Distance from the main frame to the bottom of the straight edge must be the same on both sides.

5. Measure down from the top of the main frame tube to the bottom of the straight edge. This dimension should be the same on each side of the attachment frame and normally adjusted to 140 mm (5.5 in.).

6. If height adjustment is needed, place block (A) under the leaf spring saddle (B) on each side of attachment frame and lower platform onto blocks. This will take the weight off the leveling screws (D) and allow easier adjustment.

7. Loosen jam nut (C).

8. Tightening screws (D) raises the mainframe relative to the attachment frame, while loosening screws (D) lowers the mainframe relative to the attachment frame.

9. Tighten jam nut.

10. Repeat procedure on opposite side of platform.

11. Adjust turnbuckle to desired field setting (see Adjustments - Feeding Related section).
