Adjusting Cutterbar Tilt
IMPORTANT:
Adjusting the tilt adjuster to a length less than 430 mm (17 in.) will reduce the distance between the center belt and side belt possibly causing belt and center draper seal damage. It will also decrease ground clearance at the leaf springs and attachment frame - pushing soil and center draper damage can result.
Failure to properly level the draper suspension system prior to making any of the adjustments discussed in this section may lead to feeding problems and result in machine damage.
A tilt adjuster is located between the main frame and the attachment frame to change the cutterbar and side draper tilt. This tilt adjuster should normally be adjusted to a length of 493 mm (19 1/2 in.). The tilt adjuster has a minimum length of 413 mm (16 1/4 in.) and a maximum length of 574 mm (22 1/2 in) (see Adjustments - Suspension and Leveling section).
Lengthening the tilt adjuster pivots the cutterbar forward and increases the drop from side belt to center belt, improving the feeding. It also lowers the cutterbar of the platform increasing ground clearance at the leaf springs and attachment frame. Tilting the platform forward also rotates the platform moving the reel closer to the ground and extends the reel arm reach improving performance in down crops.
Shortening the tilt adjuster pivots the cutterbar rearward, raising the guard points off the ground and decreases the side belt angle.
