Transport Safely

Whenever possible avoid transporting on public roadways with the header attached to the combine. Instead, tow on a header trailer or haul on a truck. An optional slow speed integral tractor transport system is available for the thirty and thirty-six foot wide platforms.

If the combine must be transported with the header attached:

  • Make sure that the flashing warning lights on the header are operating and the reflective material is clean and visible.
  • The use of a spotter or pilot vehicle is recommended on busy, narrow or hilly roads and when crossing bridges.
  • Drive at a speed that is safe for conditions.

If transported using the slow speed integral tractor transport system:

  • Transport only with a tractor having adequate ballast and drawbar strength, (see Transporting Section in this manual).
  • Never tow this implement behind a truck or other motor vehicles.
  • Make sure the transport warning lights and tail lights are positioned and operating, the reflective materials and SMV are clean and visible, and the safety tow chain is attached to the tractor.
  • Drive at a speed that is safe for conditions. Do not transport at speeds exceeding 32 km/h (20 mph).
