Adjusting Drum Height
IMPORTANT:
To avoid damaging floor, feed belt or fingers, maintain a minimum clearance of 23 mm (7/8 in.) between feed drum fingers, center belt splice and between floor, and feed drum fingers (see previous page).
Feed drum height must be readjusted whenever platform tilt, vertical top beam height or finger timing is changed to insure adequate finger to center belt clearance and finger to floor clearance.
NOTE:
A 30 to 40 mm finger to belt splice clearance is adequate for typical crop conditions. Tough or tangled crop conditions may require a closer finger to belt splice clearance. In certain heavy crop conditions, it may be helpful to raise the feed drum so the feed drum fingers can better grab the crop and provide additional area under the feed drum.
Operating feed drum too high in light crop conditions may result in erratic feeding and side belt plugging.
IMPORTANT:
Failure to properly level the draper suspension system prior to making any of the adjustments discussed in this section may lead to feeding problems and result in machine damage.
1.
(BOTH SIDES): Loosen the jam nuts (A) on the hanger bolts (B) at each end of the feed drum and then raise or lower the feed drum float arms (C) equally (see Adjustments - Feeding Related section).
2.
Tighten jam nuts (A) to specification.
