Attaching Corn Head (S/N 685XXX - ) to 50 Series Combines

IMPORTANT: Lock pin (A) (both sides) must be moved in before attaching header. Move pin by sliding handle (B) in and up. If pins are left in the out position, feeder house will be damaged when header is attached.

NOTE: If belt pickup or platform was used prior to using corn head, pressure line and return line for belt pickup or reel drive must be connected together on the feeder house.

The following changes should also be done before attaching the corn head to the combine, adjust feeder conveyor "Float", adjust feeder conveyor drive chain on variable speed feeder house, add steering wheel weights, adjust front wheel spacing, adjust straw chopper knives (if equipped), tighten straw spreader drive belt (if so equipped), use recommended sieve and chaffer, install cylinder filler plates and install perforated parts (attachments). See your combine operator's manual.

Sound horn, start engine and lower feeder house.

IMPORTANT: Pivot blocks (A) on feeder house must be fully seated in pocket under top beam of corn head.

Drive slowly forward until feeder house is centered in corn head opening.

Raise feeder house and corn head.

Raise feeder house, lifting corn head all the way up. Shut off engine, remove key, and set parking brake.

Lower safety stop (A) onto hydraulic cylinder rod.

IMPORTANT: Header may detach from combine if latch plate is not in place.

Pivot stop handle down to let lock pin (A) lock into header. The lock pin must extend thru latch plate (B), if not; turn plate over. The latch plate must contact surface (C). Tolerances may require that latch plates be installed differently on left- and right-hand sides.

NOTE: Wiring harness includes circuit for warning lights.

Remove wiring harness (A) from storage position on combine.

IF EQUIPPED WITH HYDRAULIC ADJUSTABLE DECK PLATES:

Remove reel fore/aft hose (B) from storage position.

Connect wiring harness (A) to harness on left-hand side of corn head.

Remove drive shaft (B) from storage position and attach to feeder house backshaft making sure quick attach collar locks fully.

IF EQUIPPED WITH HYDRAULIC ADJUSTABLE DECK PLATES:

Remove dust cap and connect reel fore/aft hydraulic hose (C) to coupler.

Open valve (D) on left-hand couplers.

Remove drive shaft (A) from storage position and attach to feeder house backshaft making sure quick attach collar locks fully.

IF EQUIPPED WITH HYDRAULIC ADJUSTABLE DECK PLATES:

Remove dust cap and connect reel fore/aft hydraulic hose (B) to coupler.

Open valve (C) on right-hand couplers.
