Draper Belt Speed
In-cab belt speed adjustment is available with new combines, with a retrofit option available for some older combines. One adjustment changes all belt speeds proportionately up or down. The belt speed should be set for the prevailing crop conditions, with the objective being an even distribution of crop material across the usable width of center feed belt. This will provide an even distribution of crop material across the entire separator width.
Indications of slow belt speeds may be heavy loading of material along the sides of the center belt, and heavy loading of side belts. Excessive belt speed may cause heavy loading in the middle of the center feed belt.
Fast belt speeds are typically required in tough crop conditions to insure the crop material is thrown clear of the side belts, minimizing the chance of the crop being pulled back under the side belts.
