Combining Oats, Maize and Wheat in Damp or Wet Ground Conditions (All Platforms)
The following suggestions will help when operating in weedy conditions.
Cut grain as high as possible.
Try to avoid weeds and undergrowth.
Make following adjustments to platform:
Lock out flex cutterbar except for soybeans. Move rigid cutterbar to rearward position for green material or forward for very short straw. On both platforms, tilt cutterbar up as far as possible.
Move reel back and down. Adjust pitch of pickup reel fingers at right angles to cutterbar.
Adjust auger down and back for rigid platforms and flex platforms.
Remove paint, rust, dirt or crop residue from platform bottom under auger.
Remove optional feeder house closure strips. Use strips only to prevent wrapping of feeder conveyor drive shaft.
Adjust feeder conveyor drum "float" to grain position. See combine operator's manual. Incorrect drum height (drum "float" adjusted to corn position) causes most feeding problems.
Adjust feeder conveyor chain for correct distance above false bottom. (See Combine Operator's Manual).
If feeder problems still exist, install auger flight extensions.
