Replacing Final Fuel Filter Element

Change the final fuel filter if performance decline is noticed and or Service Code A00 1347.07 is generated and can be displayed on the cornerpost after cleaning the fuel precleaner filter.

NOTE: Do not clean fuel precleaner and change final fuel filter at the same time. Doing so will make it more difficult to restart the machine. Perform fuel precleaner cleaning procedure then run engine before changing the final fuel filter.

1. Start engine and run 3 to 5 minutes at low idle if machine had not been previously operating.

2. Shut off engine

3. Thoroughly clean exterior of final fuel filter/water separator assembly (A) and surrounding area.

4. Disconnect the water in fuel sensor connector. (C)

causym CAUTION: Fuel in final filter may be under pressure. Do not remove the final filter without completing step 5 of this procedure.

5. Place a container under final filter (A) and slowly open drain valve (B) on water separator bowl. Allow water, contaminates and pressure to drain from the filter, then close the drain valve.

6. Remove the filter (A) from the engine.

7. Remove the water separator bowl (D) from the filter, discard o-ring (E) and clean the bowl.

8. Inspect water separator bowl (D) for any form of damage. Replace if necessary.

9. Lubricate new o-ring (E) with diesel fuel and install with bowl (D) onto new filter. Tighten 1/2 turn after o-ring contacts filter.

10. Using provided fill cup (A) attached to new filter, fill the filter with clean fuel.

IMPORTANT: Avoid fuel system contamination. Do not pour fuel directly into filter without fill cup. The fill cup blocks the center port of the filter, forcing the fuel to be filtered before entering the injection pump. Injection pump damage could occur if contaminated with dirty fuel.

11. Remove fill cup (A) from filter (B).

12. Lubricate filter seal with diesel fuel and install filter onto base. Tighten 3/4 turn after seal contacts base. Connect the water in fuel sensor connector.

13. Start engine and run for 3 to 5 minutes at low idle. If engine does not start or will not keep running, see Bleeding the Fuel System.
