Changing Chopper Drive Speeds

NOTE: When changing chopper speeds make sure to cycle power on and off. The combine will now recognize the new speed range.

causym CAUTION: Shut off engine, set park brake and remove key.

Release chopper drive belt tension.

Pull arm (A) down, outward and up to release belt tension.

Install rubber strap (B) in slot to hold arm in the detensioned belt position.

Release latch (A) and lift shield (B) over pins (C).

Remove pin (D) from shield (E) and remove shield from bracket (F).

Install belt on outside sheave grooves (G), idlers (H) and outside sheave grooves (I) for (High Speed) 2500 rpm for:

  • Corn
  • Grain with dry straw
  • Smaller platforms

NOTE: Less power will be consumed and blade life will be increased with the chopper on low speed.

  • Grain with tough or green straw
  • Larger platforms

Install belt on inside sheave grooves (G), idlers (H), and inside sheave grooves (I) for (Low Speed) 1600 rpm for:

Remove rubber strap from slot in arm and pull arm down to put tension on belt. Check belt idler tension spring to gauge. The washer on rear of spring should be even with gauge. Adjust as required.
