Checking Platform Speeds
IMPORTANT:
The variable-belt drive feeder house is designed for use with a corn head or row-crop head. Using variable-belt drive at excessive speeds when combine is equipped with a cutting platform can cause vibration and excessive wear to cutterbar parts.
Minimum backshaft tachometer speed (at no load and at high engine idle) must be kept between 510 and 530 rpm.
When connecting combine to cutting platform after using other front end equipment that utilizes variable-belt drive at higher speeds, do the following:
1.
Connect to platform for intended operation.
2.
Engage separator and header for field operation.
3.
Press and hold reel lower switch until backshaft speed is at minimum speed.
4.
If backshaft minimum rpm speed is not reached, adjust feeder house belt (see combine's Operator Manual for adjustment procedures).
