Chopper (General Information)
CAUTION:
Do not let anyone stand behind chopper while it is running. Shut OFF engine, set parking brake set and remove before adjusting chopper.
Before performing service or maintenance on raised chopper, use lift actuator to snap lock-out pins into place.
Normal use wears the bottom of chopper fins to a sharp edge.
For Chopper High Speed:
-
Grain with tough or green straw
-
Larger platforms
For Chopper Low Speed:
-
Corn
-
Grain with dry straw
-
Smaller platforms
See Changing Chopper Drive Speeds later in this section.
NOTE:
Less power will be consumed and blade life will be increased with the chopper on low speed.
Start with chopper on low speed and knife bank out. If cut length is not fine enough the first adjustment should be sliding the knife bank "in".
If cut length is still not acceptable, chopper should be placed on high speed and knife bank "out".
Final attempt at reducing residue length should be chopper on high speed and knife bank "in".
