Changing Chopper and Chaff Spreader for Maize (Low Speed)
Disengage claw clutch on chopper and move chopper to middle position. Remove tension on discharge beater drive belt idler (A). Remove discharge beater belt (B) from chopper drive jackshaft sheave to allow removal of chopper belt. |

CAUTION:
Shut OFF engine, set parking brake and remove key.

Remove and retain shields (A).

Remove and retain jackshaft support (A) and shield bracket (B).

NOTE: Obtain one strand belt from local John Deere dealer. Remove the three strand belt (A) and install the one strand belt on inside sheave grooves (B).

Install jackshaft support (A) and shield bracket (B).

Install shields (A).

Install discharge beater belt (B) and adjust tension on drive belt idler (A). Tighten tensioner until gauge aligns with washer. Move chopper to chopping position.

Move control lever (A) to low speed position (refer to decal).

Remove controller bar (A) from chopper floor. Remove hardware (B), handle (C) and stationary knifebank (D).

|
Remove cap screws (A) and slotted chopper floor (B). Replace slotted chopper floor with solid chopper floor obtained from your John Deere dealer and install cap screws.

Remove cap screws (A) and remove both standard disk assemblies (B).

|
Replace standard disk assemblies with corn disk assemblies (A) obtained from your John Deere dealer and install with previously removed cap screws.
