Hot Weather Operation

causym CAUTION: Coolant conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not take internally. In case of contact, immediately wash skin with soap and water. For eyes, flush with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician. Keep out of reach of children.

The cooling system must be clean and in good condition for operation. Loss of pressure results in over heating and loss of coolant.

    Check for:

  • Recovery tank coolant level
  • Plugged radiator
  • Leaking hoses
  • Broken fan belt or rotary screen belt
  • Engine fan should be at high speed

The combine is shipped from the factory with permanent type 50/50 ethylene glycol antifreeze mix in the cooling system.

Leave antifreeze in cooling system all year long. If coolant is lost or drained, it must be replaced with the correct coolant and conditioner (see recommendations given in Fuels and Lubricants section).

IMPORTANT: 9.0 L Engine: Air becomes trapped in Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler during the coolant fill operation. This trapped air will cause severe damage to cooler and turbo charger. Use proper filling and bleeding procedure shown in Service Engine section to avoid damage to these components.

To prevent mineral deposits, do not use hard water.

Liquid Coolant Conditioner is recommended to protect against engine and cooling system wear. Add .9 L (1 qt) to radiator when coolant is changed (see recommendations given in Fuels and Lubricants section).
