Description of Automatic Header Height Control System

Automatic Header Height system compensates for uneven ground and controls the horizontal and vertical position of the header. The system continuously compares the preset position and the actual position and thus keeps the header in the desired working position. Desired values are entered by the control dials located under the armrest lid. Information about the actual position comes from the potentiometers on the components. The control board processes both signals and adjusts the header's position accordingly by means of the hydraulic system.

Lateral Tilt Adjustment

There are two operating modes for Lateral Tilt Adjustment:

  • Manual Adjustment - In this mode the hydraulic components are directly activated by the multifunction control handle.
  • Automatic Adjustment - In this mode the parallel adjustment of the header in relation to the ground is carried out by the skid plates. This ensures that the distance between the header and the ground is equal on both the left-hand and right-hand sides.

Platform Height Adjustment

There are four operating modes for Platform Height Adjustment:

  • Manual Adjustment - In this mode the hydraulic components are directly activated via by the multifunction control.
  • Automatic Header Height Resume - In this mode the platform can be set to any position within the feeder house range.
  • Automatic Header Height Sensing - In this mode the height of the platform is maintained with height sensors attached to the platform. This ensures that the automatic header height sensing is always constant.
  • Automatic Active Header Float Control - In this mode the combine maintains a constant header pressure with ground contact.

Response Rate Control For Header Height Sensing and Active Header Float Pressure (Automatic Functions)

Dial (A) controls the response rate of the header raise/lower functions when in the automatic modes.

Requirements:

  • Engine is running
  • Road transport disconnect in field position
  • Header drive engaged
  • Header Height Control is activated

Operation:

Press button (B) to enable Header Height Control.

Press activation button (C) to lower the header to the preselected position. Use response rate dial (A) to adjust the rate at which the header follows the ground contour.

Turn clockwise - Increase response rate.

Turn counterclockwise - Decrease response rate.

Response Rate Control For Header Height Resume (Manual Functions)

Dial (A) controls the response rate of the header height and manual raise/lower full range movement when in manual mode (with or without CONTOUR MASTER control function activated).

Requirements:

  • Engine is running
  • Road transport disconnect in field position
  • Header drive engaged
  • Header Height Control button (B) activated or deactivated.

Operation:

Use response rate dial (A) to adjust the rate at which header will react when being raised/lowered by switch (C).

Turn clockwise - Increase response rate.

Turn counterclockwise - Decrease response rate.
