Single Tine Separator Drive Sheave Gap-Adjusting

IMPORTANT: If sheave gap is more than 10 mm (3/8 in.), it limits sheave travel. Any of these failures can occur when drive is operated at the high end of the variable drive range:

  • Belt stretch or failure

  • Bearing or shaft failure

If sheave gap is less than 6 mm (1/4 in.), it limits torque sensing. Any of these failures can occur when drive is operated at the low end of the variable range:

  • Belt failure

  • Belt slippage

If unable to obtain high speed rpm while operating in the high end of the variable drive range or have belt slippage while operating in the low end of variable drive, check for incorrect gap between driven sheaves. An 8 mm ± 2 mm (5/16 in. ± 1/16 in.) gap should be maintained between sheaves for best performance.

Specification

Sheaves -Gap 8 mm ± 2 mm (5/16 in. ± 1/16 in.)

To adjust sheave gap:

With separator engaged and running, set tine separator drive to the slowest speed allowing driven sheaves to close.

causym CAUTION: Shut OFF engine, set parking brake and remove key.

Loosen cap screws (A) holding gear case and draw nuts (B).

NOTE: Shift gear case to neutral to properly seat belt between sheaves. Manually rotate sheaves, while adjusting draw bolt.

Adjust draw bolt (C) to obtain specified gap between driven sheaves (8 mm (5/16 in.) drill bit can be used to measure gap).

Specification

Sheaves -Gap 8 mm (5/16 in)

Retighten cap screws (A) and draw nuts (B).

Shift two speed gear case to original speed range.
