A-Inspection Plugs

B-Grease Level

C-Grease Fitting

 

IMPORTANT: Do not over fill gear cases to prevent premature seal failure.

1. Check gear case lubricant level at inspection plugs (A). Lubricant must be approximately 38 mm (1-1/2-in.) (B) from the top of the inspection hole.

Fill to approximate level using grease fitting (C) on bottom of gear case with John Deere corn head grease (type "0" [zero] extreme pressure).

2. Lubricate idler bearing.

3. CORN HEADS (S/N 685XXX- ) EXCEPT ON SIDEHILL COMBINES:

Grease Header Drive Shafts (both sides). Connect drive shafts to feeder house and lubricate two fittings which are 180° apart on drive shaft.

Rotate shields as needed to access grease fitting.
