If you do not want to add cost to standard corn head.
Slow residue breakdown.
Maximize residue at planting time.
Trap more snow/conserve moisture.
Have better residue flow through narrow spaced drills when no-tilling.
To get more complete shredding with a flail shredder.
Straight fluted stalk rolls perform well in moderate dry, brittle conditions where the stalks break off at or slightly below the ear.
