Transport Safely
Whenever possible avoid transporting on public roadways with the platform attached to the combine. Instead, tow on a trailer or haul on a truck. An optional slow speed integral tractor transport system is available for the 30 and 35 foot wide platforms.
If the combine must be transported with the platform attached:
-
Make sure that the flashing warning lights on the platform are operating and the reflective material is clean and visible.
-
The use of a spotter or pilot vehicle is recommended on busy, narrow, or hilly roads and when crossing bridges.
-
Drive at a speed that is safe for conditions.
-
Lock the float system.
If transported using the slow speed integral tractor transport system:
-
Transport only with a tractor having adequate ballast and drawbar strength (see the TRANSPORTING section in this manual).
-
Never tow the draper behind a truck or other motor vehicles.
-
Make sure the transport warning lights and tail lights are positioned and operating.
-
Make sure reflective materials and SMV signs are clean and visible.
-
Make sure that the safety tow chain is attached to the towing tractor.
-
Drive at a speed that is safe for conditions. Do not transport at speeds exceeding 32 km/h (20 mph).
-
Lock the float system.
