Remove and Install Knife Sections

causym CAUTION: To reduce risk of personal injury, always wear gloves when handling knives. Stand to the rear of knife when removing or installing.

1. Raise platform completely and engage feeder house safety stop.

2. Raise reel completely and engage safety stops on reel lift cylinders.

3. Set parking brake, turn OFF engine, and remove key.

4. Position knife so hold-downs and guard tangs do not inhibit section removal.

5. Remove nuts (A) on section.

6. Tap or pry up section (B) and discard.

NOTE: It may be necessary to reposition the knife slightly to enable cap screws to pass through guard opening.

7. Remove and discard any damaged cap screws (A).

NOTE: Section cap screw has an oval body which must be aligned with oval in knife back before cap screw draws up.

8. Replace cap screws (A), insure oval body and head are fully seated.

9. Install new section. Tighten nuts to specification.
