Draper Belt Speed

In-cab belt speed adjustment is available standard on newer combines and with a retrofit option available for some older combines. One adjustment changes side belt speeds proportionately up or down. Set belt speed for the prevailing crop conditions. Adjust so an even distribution of crop material reaches the center feed belt. This provides an even distribution of crop material across the entire separator width.

Indications of slow belt speeds are:

  • Heavy loading of side belts.
  • Heavy loading of material along the sides of the center belt.

    Excessive belt speed can cause:

  • Heavy loading in the middle of the center feed belt.
  • Crops to be pushed across the center belt.
  • Crops to be pulled under platform by side draper belts.

Faster belt speeds are typically required in tough crop conditions. Increase belt speed to insure the crop material is thrown clear of the side belts and not being pulled back under the side belts.
