Concave Sections—Remove and Install

1. CAUTION:

   B - Neutral Position

   Concave sections are heavy and awkward to handle. Another person may be needed to remove and install concave sections.

   NOTE: For ease of removal, close concave completely.

   Move handle (A) to shift rotor gearcase in neutral position (B).

   A - Separator Covers

   Remove shielding as needed to access separator inspection covers.

3. Remove separator inspection covers (A).

4. Inspect wear on concave sections using AH204933 Clearance Gauge.

   Removing separator grate provides access for rotating rotor for maximum concave to threshing element clearance.

   Remove cap screws (A) and separator grate (B).

   B - Diverter

   Loosen cap screws (A) and remove left-hand sheet metal diverter (B).

   A - Cardboard

   Place a piece of cardboard (A) or poly over conveyor augers. This provides protection for the augers and allows a smooth surface to remove the concaves.

   Remove shielding as needed to access separator inspection covers.

9. Remove quick-lock pins and front two separator covers (A) on right-hand side of machine.

    A - Spring Pin

    B - Concave Retainer

    Remove spring lock pin (A) from concave retainer (B).

11. Lift concave retainer and remove handle from each concave section.

    Loosen cap screws (A).

13. Fully open concave. This allows weight of concaves to rest on conveyor auger bed.

    C - ”Z” Bar

    Remove cap screws (A).

15. Remove cotter pins, pins (B) and ”Z” bar (C).

16. Rotate rotor such that a gap in the threshing element pattern occurs at mid concave.

17. Remove center concave section.

18. Slide rear concave to the center position and remove.

19. Slide front concave to the center position and remove.

20. Install concaves in reverse order.

    Install concave handle (A) into groove (B) on concave sections.

22. Install concave retainer (C) and retain with spring pin (D).

    B - Pins

    C - ”Z” Bar

    Position ”Z” bar (C) over end of concaves and install cap screws, but do not tighten.

24. Install pins (B).

25. Fully close concave.

    Be sure the ends of concaves fit snug into ”Z” bar; then tighten top row of cap screws (A) first.

27. Tighten bottom row of cap screws last.

28. Adjust concave level. (See Concave Leveling later in this section.)

    Verify that top edge of separator cover is under clips.

    Install separator covers (A).

30. Install shielding previously removed to access separator inspection covers.

    Install separator grate (B) and retain with cap screws (A).

    Remove cardboard (A) or poly from conveyor augers.

    A - Cap Screws

    B - Diverter

    Install diverter (B) to original position and tighten cap screws (A).

    Install separator inspection covers (A).

35. Install shielding previously removed to access separator inspection covers.

36. Shift rotor drive gearcase to previous position.
