Check Header Height Sensors (70 Series Combines)

  1. IMPORTANT:

    A - Float Pressure Adjust Switch

    B - Selection Dial

    Platform must be attached to combine for calibration. Each sensor is checked separately.

    NOTE: Verify optional auxiliary header height sensors (if equipped) are secured in storage position. See Automatic Header Height Control—Rigid Mode in Operating The Platform section in Operators Manual.

    Attach combine to platform (see combine Operators Manual for attachment information).



  2. Increase platform float pressure to maximum:

    1. Press float pressure adjust switch (A) on armrest.

    2. Rotate selection dial (B) clockwise (+) to increase cutterbar pressure. Setting will be displayed on armrest display screen.

    3. Completely lower header to ground.

  3. Shut OFF engine and set parking brake.

    Avoid machine movement, do NOT start engine for this procedure.

    Turn key switch ON, but do not start machine.



  5. Press main menu switch (A) and rotate selection dial (B) until message center icon (C) is highlighted.

  6. Press confirm switch (D).

    Rotate selection dial until diagnostic address icon (A) is highlighted and press confirm switch.



  8. Rotate selection dial until device drop down menu (B) is highlighted and press confirm switch.

  9. Rotate selection dial until LC1 controller is highlighted and press confirm switch.

  10. NOTE: Rotate selection dial until down arrow (C) is highlighted and press confirm switch to advance through diagnostic addresses.

    Rotate selection dial until proper sensor address (see table) is highlighted and press confirm switch.

    Confirm the correct sensor address (A) is listed on the data screen for the sensor being checked.



  12. NOTE: Operating voltage range of sensors must fall between 0.51—4.49.

    Recommended voltage range of header height sensors should fall between 0.70—4.30.

    Recommended voltage range of optional auxiliary header height sensors should fall between 0.60—4.40.

    Sensor Voltage Readings (B):

    1. Header height sensor voltage reading with float system at upper limit should fall between optimal range of 0.70—1.30.

    2. Optional auxiliary header height sensor voltage reading with optional auxiliary header height sensors in storage position should fall between optimal range of 0.60—1.00.

    NOTE: If no number is present or voltage readings do not fall between 0.51 to 4.49, then header height sensors on platform will not function properly and will need adjusted (See Adjusting Header Height Sensors section in this manual).

  13. After adjustment, select return/back arrow icon (C) and press confirm.

  14. Repeat sensor voltage adjustment for each address at maximum float pressure.

    A - Feeder House Safety Stop

    Death to you or others can result from feeder house inadvertently lowering. Completely raise feeder house and verify that safety stop is engaged when performing this procedure with header attached.

    NOTE: Verify optional auxiliary header height sensors (if equipped) are unpinned and fully lowered. See Automatic Header Height Control — Rigid Mode in Operating The Platform section in Operators Manual.

    Completely raise feeder house and engage safety stop (A).

    1. Press float pressure adjust switch (A) on armrest.

    2. Rotate selection dial (B) counter clockwise (-) to decrease cutterbar pressure. Setting will be displayed on armrest display screen.

    3. Shut OFF engine and set parking brake.

    4. Repeat steps 4—10 to check sensors at minimum platform float pressure.

    NOTE: If no number is present or voltage readings do not fall between 0.51 to 4.49, then header height sensors on platform will not function properly and will need adjusted (See Adjusting Header Height Sensors section in this manual).

  18. After adjustment, select return/back arrow icon (C) and press confirm.

  19. Repeat procedure for each sensor at minimum platform float pressure.
