Remove and Install Knife Guards

    A - Round-Head Cap Screws and Nuts

    B - Knife Guard

    C - Knife Hold-Down

    D - Skid Plate (Shoe)

    Completely raise platform and engage feeder house safety stop.



  2. Raise reel completely and engage safety stops on reel lift cylinders.

  3. Shut OFF engine, set park brake, and remove key.

  4. CAUTION: To reduce risk of personal injury, always wear gloves when handling knives.

    Be cautious of falling parts while removing hardware.

    Remove round head cap screws and nuts (A).

    NOTE: Retain knife hold-down (C) if removed.

  5. Remove and retain skid plate (D). If skid plate is attached to float arm, leave loose.

  6. Remove and discard knife guard (B).

  7. IMPORTANT: If multiple knife guards and skid shoes are removed, verify that they are installed in their original location to allow for optimal belt function and life.

    Install new knife guard in reverse order of removal.

  8. NOTE: If knife hold-down (C) was removed during this procedure, check hold-down clearance after installation (see Knife Hold-Down Clearance In Adjustments—Feeding Related section).

    Cycle knife manually to ensure no contact between knives and guards exists. Loosen hardware (A) and adjust knife guard (B) if necessary.
