Cold Weather Starts—6.8 L Engine

A - Glow Plug Indicator
CAUTION: Do not use ether or starting fluids to start engine
with a cold weather starting device. Ether is highly flammable and
could ignite on engines with cold weather starting device.
IMPORTANT: Never use Ether starting fluid to start engine. Damage
to engine will result.

Turn off switches, including radio and dome light.

Place multifunction control handle in PARK.

Put throttle in slow idle position.

Turn key switch to Accessory/Run position.

Glow plug indicator (A) will light if fuel temperature is -5°C
(23°F) or below. (WAIT TO START ENGINE; PREHEATING IS ACTIVE).

IMPORTANT: Avoid starter damage. Do not operate starter more
than 30 seconds at a time. If engine does not start, wait at least
two minutes before trying again.
When glow plug indicator goes out, turn key switch to START
position to engage starter. Release key when engine starts.
