Remove Machine from Storage

  1. NOTE: When removing sprayer from storage gear oil is found leaking out of planetary drive hub inside rim, or puddle of oil is found on rims after machine has sat for a period of time. The gear reduction hubs have a mechanical seal between spindle and hub. It is normal for oil to leak out of these seals when a machine has been in storage.

Remove sealing tape and plastic bags from openings.

  2. Check engine oil level. If low, check for leaks. Add oil as required.

  3. Check coolant level. If low, check for leaks. Add coolant as required.

  4. Clean negative (—) battery terminals and cables and reconnect.

  5. Fill fuel tank with proper grade diesel fuel.

  6. (Final Tier 4 and Stage IV engine tractors) If Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank has not been drained, test urea concentration, see Testing DEF in Fuel, Lubricants, and Coolant and section of this manual. If concentration is not within specifications, drain and replace with new or known good DEF. If DEF tank has been drained, fill tank. See Drain and Flush Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Tank in Engine and Drivetrain section of this manual for proper procedure.

  7. Drain SprayMaster™ Winterizer Fluid from solution system and flush system.

  8. IMPORTANT: When first starting machine after removing from storage run machine at no more than low idle for 4 minutes. Turn on air conditioning system during this time to prevent compressor seal failure.

Start engine and warm to operating temperature. Check for leaks.

  9. Clean engine compartment and machine thoroughly, inside and out.

  10. Check oil level in hydrostatic/hydraulic reservoir. If low, check for leaks. Add oil as required.

  11. Check tire inflation.

  12. NOTE: Instructions for lifting machine can be found in Install Optional Tires story in Wheels and Tires section.

Lift each corner of machine and remove stands.

  13. Ensure all hardware is tight.

  14. Lubricate all grease fittings.

  15. Install monitor. Check that programming is correct.

  16. Add clean water in solution tank and operate system to check for leaks, before installing nozzle tips and screens.

  17. Inspect nozzle tips to make sure they are all the same size. Install tips and screens.

  18. Follow “Boom Air Bleed Process” in Recommendations For Eliminating Air from Solution System in Wet System section.

  19. Operate spraying system and observe spray patterns. Adjust or replace tips as necessary.

  20. Review Operator's Manual for operating adjustments and safety information.

  21. Calibrate sprayer.

  22. Check fire extinguisher gauge (if equipped) for proper charge.

  23. Check air conditioning refrigerant charge. Have system charged if necessary.
