Boom Operation

Symptom	Problem	Solution
Inner boom section does not fold out.	Faulty switch.	Replace switch.
	Load sense jamming valve not working.	See your John Deere dealer.
	Damaged or corroded electrical connections.	Repair, replace, or clean electrical connection.
	Failed solenoid coil or relay.	Replace coil or relay.
	Sticking hydraulic spool cartridge.	Remove hydraulic spool cartridge and clean or (See your John Deere dealer.)
	Plugged orifice or hydraulic line.	Remove and clean orifice or hydraulic line.
	Faulty inner boom fold cylinder.	See your John Deere dealer.
	Faulty inner boom position sensor.	Replace and calibrate sensor or (see your John Deere dealer).
	Boom fold/unfold sensors out of calibration.	Calibrate fold/unfold sensors. (See Calibrate Boom Fold/Unfold Sensors in SprayStar section.)

Outer boom section does not fold out.	Faulty switch.	Replace switch.

	Boom fold/unfold sensors out of calibration.	Calibrate fold/unfold sensors. (See Calibrate Boom Fold/Unfold Sensors in SprayStar section.)

Outer boom section folds out part way and stops.	Hydraulic cylinder magnetic switch releases.	Fold boom and retry unfolding procedure.
	Boom fold/unfold sensors out of calibration.	Calibrate fold/unfold sensors. (See Calibrate Boom Fold/Unfold Sensors in SprayStar section.)

Inner boom section does not fold in.	Faulty switch.	Replace switch.

Inner boom section folds in part way and stops.	Hydraulic cylinder magnetic switch releases.	Unfold boom and retry folding procedure.

Outer boom section does not fold in or inner boom folds in before outer boom folds in.	Faulty switch.	Replace switch.

Boom will not return to level after rolling in either direction or boom does not roll freely.

Suspended center frame binds at wear plates or center mounting bearings too far forward on shaft.

	Damaged or corroded electrical connections.	Repair, replace, or clean electrical connection.

	Hydraulic compensator pressure not to specification.	See your John Deere dealer.

Boom lift raises too fast.	Orifice in boom valve is missing.	Install correct size orifice.
	Auxiliary pump high compensator pressure set too high.	See your John Deere dealer.

One individual boom function does not stop when switch is released or is slow to release.	Sticking or faulty switch.	Repair or replace switch.
	Sticking hydraulic spool assembly.	Clean spool assembly or (see your John Deere dealer.)
	Faulty solenoid valve.	Repair or replace solenoid valve.
	Load sense jamming valve not working.	See your John Deere dealer.
