Understand Active Hydraulic Down-Pressure Systems
IMPORTANT: Active hydraulic down-pressure systems are designed
to be operated with closed-center tractor hydraulic systems (tractors
with load sensing or pressure on demand hydraulics are classified
as closed-center systems) running in CONTINUOUS mode. Operating SCVs in NEUTRAL with active hydraulic down-pressure systems
with an open center hydraulic system could result in permanent tractor
pump damage. See your John Deere dealer for more information.
NOTE: Reducing flow rates for SCVs supplying hydraulic down-pressure
will reduce power consumption.
Disks and closing disks can be operated in floating or active
modes. Operating down-pressure is factory set inside hydraulic valves
located on the front of the machine and make use of CONTINUOUS hydraulic pressure. In most conditions, operating
in active mode is necessary to achieve proper field finish.
Operating in active mode is necessary for wing-fold and rolling
baskets at ALL times, if equipped.
