Replace DEF Tank Breather

  1. N109078

    DEF Tank Breather

    A - Hose Clamp

    B - Hose

    C - Breather

    D - Cap Screw

    E - Band Clamp

    Loosen hose clamp (A) and remove hose (B) from breather (C).



  2. Loosen cap screw (D) and remove breather from band clamp (E).

  3. Install new breather in reverse order of removal.


Change Front Axle Final Drive Oil

A - Drain Plug

B - Fill Plug

Drain and refill front axle final drive oil as follows:

  1. Remove drain plug (A) and drain final drive oil into suitable container. Dispose of waste oil properly.

  2. Install drain plug.

  3. Remove fill plug (B).

  4. Fill final drive until oil is within 6 mm (0.25 in.) of bottom of fill port. (See FINAL DRIVE AND POWERED REAR AXLE LUBRICANT in Fuels, Lubricants, and Coolants section for proper oil. See MACHINE SPECIFICATIONS in Specifications section for refill capacity.)

  5. Install fill plug.

  6. Repeat procedure for final drive on opposite end of axle.


Change Rear Axle Housing Oil

A - Drain Plug

B - Fill Plug

Change oil in rear axle housing as follows:

  1. Remove drain plug (A) and allow oil to drain into suitable container. Dispose of waste oil properly,

  2. Install drain plug.

  3. Remove fill plug (B).

  4. Fill axle housing with fresh oil until oil level is at bottom of fill plug hole. (See FINAL DRIVE AND POWERED REAR AXLE LUBRICANT in Fuels, Lubricants, and Coolants section for proper oil. See MACHINE SPECIFICATIONS in Specifications section for oil capacity.)

  5. Install fill plug.


Change Rear Axle Gearbox Oil

A - Drain Plug

B - Oil Level Plug

C - Fill Plug

Change rear axle gearbox oil as follows:

  1. Remove drain plug (A) and allow oil to drain into suitable container. Dispose of waste oil properly.

  2. Install drain plug.

  3. Remove oil level plug (B) and fill plug (C).

  4. Fill gearbox until oil level is at bottom of oil level hole. (See FINAL DRIVE AND POWERED REAR AXLE LUBRICANT in Fuels, Lubricants, and Coolants section for proper oil. See MACHINE SPECIFICATIONS in Specifications section for refill capacity.)

  5. Install oil level plug and fill plug.


Change Rear Axle Planetary Drive Oil

Rear Planetary Drive Drain Plug

A - Drain/Fill Plug

Change rear axle planetary drive oil as follows:

  1. Position machine with drain/fill plug (A) at the 6 o'clock position.

  2. Remove plug and drain oil into suitable container. Dispose of waste oil properly.

  3. Reposition machine with drain/fill hole at 9 o'clock position.

  4. Fill planetary drive with oil to bottom of drain/fill hole. (See FINAL DRIVE AND POWERED REAR AXLE LUBRICANT in Fuels, Lubricants, and Coolants section for proper oil. See MACHINE SPECIFICATIONS in Specifications section for refill capacity.)

  5. Install drain/fill plug.

  6. Repeat procedure for planetary drive hub on opposite side of machine.


Check Engine Valve Tappet Clearance

Check engine valve tappet clearance. (See your John Deere dealer.)
