Apply With Low Application Rates
When apply with low application rates, it may be necessary to
turn orifice valve (A) to the closed (low) position.

A - Orifice Valve
B - Solution Flow
To determine when to close orifice valve, calculate boom flow
rate. When solution flow rate is 100 L/min (26 gal/min) or less, close
the orifice valve. If solution flow rate is greater that 100 L/min
(26 gal/min) open orifice valve all the way.
Determining Solution Flow Rate:
When spraying, go to Sprayer Main Page and check solution flow
rate (B) if that feature has been selected on one of the dropdown
menus available on that page. If solution flow rate is 100 L/min (26
gal/min) or less, close the orifice valve. If solution flow rate is
greater than 100 L/min (26 gal/min), open orifice valve all the way.
Find the solution flow rate using formula:
|
Liters per minute =
|
Liters per hectare X kilometer per
hour X nozzle spacing (m)
|
X total number of nozzles
|
|
600
|
Example: If there are 42 nozzles on the spray boom in an application
of 150 L /ha and 20 km/h: (150 L/ha x 20 km/h x 0.508 m) / 600 x
42 = 106.6 L/min. (solution flow rate).
Operator would open orifice valve.
