Batteries do not charge

Loose or corroded electrical connections

Check the electrical connections at the batteries. Tighten any loosen connection.

 

Loose or defective alternator belt

Check the alternator belt. Replace if necessary.

 

Sulfated or worn-out batteries

Replace the batteries.

Starter motor starts slowly or does not start

Engine oil is too thick

Use the correct oil. See Fuels, Lubricants, and Coolant Section.

 

Discharged batteries

Check the batteries charge. Charge if necessary.

 

Loose or corroded electrical connections

Check the electrical connections at the starter motor. Tighten any loosen connection.

Starter motor is inoperative

Neutral start system is activated

Move the multi-function lever to park position.

 

Discharged batteries

Check the batteries charge. Charge if necessary.

Blown fuse

Replace the corresponding fuse.

 

Faulty neutral start system

See your John Deere dealer.

Light bulb does not turn on

Blown fuse

Replace the corresponding fuse.

 

Blown light bulb

Check the light bulb. Replace if necessary.

Engine start aid indicator light flashes

Engine control unit (ECU) indicates a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) in the fuel system

Drain the fuel filters and bleed the fuel system. Restart the engine. If the light still flashes, see your John Deere dealer.
