Cold Weather Starting

CAUTION: Do not use ether or starting fluids to start engine with a cold weather starting device. Ether is highly flammable and could ignite on engines with a cold weather starting device.

  1. Turn the ignition key (D) to run position (B). The air intake preheater activates automatically, according to fuel temperature.

    NOTE: The engine start aid indicator light turns on for 0—30 s.



  2. Wait until the engine start aid indicator (A) turns off.

    IMPORTANT: Avoid starter damage. Do not operate starter motor more than 30 s at a time. If engine does not start, wait at least 2 min before trying again.

  3. Turn the ignition key (D) to start position (C). Release the ignition key when the engine starts.

  4. Warm up the engine to operating temperature.
