Adjust Shim Gap with Wheel on Ground

CAUTION: Solution tank can contain hazardous materials which can cause serious injury or death to you or others. Wear protective clothing, eye wear, and gloves while draining tank. Drain solution in an area where people, animals, vegetation, and water supplies, and so on, cannot be contaminated.

  1. Drain solution tank. (See Drain Solution Tank in the Solution System section.)

  2. NOTE: If sticking occurs, remove debris from axle knees and spray with TY25733 teflon based lubricant. Activate tread adjust in and out until free.

    Completely retract tread for hydraulic tread adjust option, or set manual machines to desired tread setting. (See Setting Tread Width procedures in this section.)

  3. If not already loose, loosen all lock nuts on adjusting bolts.

  4. Set three adjusting bolts (B) on shock absorber side of axle to dimension (A) of 15 mm (0.59 in).

  5. Lock adjusting bolts by tightening lock nuts (C) to specification.

  6. Tighten adjusting bolts (A) on tie rod side of axle 1/4 turn at a time. Keep tightening until gap (C) between axle knee (D) and lower shim pad (E) measures between 0.5 to 0.8 mm (0.020 to 0.030 in).

  7. Tighten all lock nuts (B) to specification.

  8. Verify that knee is not contacting inside wall of axle tube. Knee should be centered in the axle tube. If knee is contacting axle tube repeat procedure with altered dimension (shorter or longer) for the shock side adjusting bolts.

  9. Operate the machine and adjust the tread in-and-out to make sure that no binding occurs.
