Replace Engine Fan Belt

  1. Park machine and shut off the engine.

  2. Remove the ignition key from the key switch.

  3. Access the engine compartment. (See Access to Engine Compartment in Access to Service Points section.)

  4. Disconnect the battery negative cable.

  5. Remove the alternator belt (B):

    C - Screw

    1. Loosen the screw (C).

    2. Remove the screw (A).

    3. Relieve the tension on the alternator belt (B).

    4. Remove the alternator belt (B).



  6. Turn the screw (C) clockwise until the two holes (A) and (B) are aligned.

  7. Insert a metal pin into the two aligned holes.

  8. Remove the old engine fan belt from pulleys by cutting it free.

  9. Fold over the new engine fan belt and slip it between the fan and fan shroud.

    CAUTION: Keep hands away from the exposed fan blades. Blades have sharp edges and can result in personal injury.



  10. Turn the fan as the belt is installed.

  11. Install the new engine fan belt.

    E - Crankshaft

    F - Water Pump

    G - Alternator

    H - Air Conditioner Compressor



  12. Remove the metal pin from the automatic belt tensioner.

  13. Install the alternator belt (B):

    B - Alternator Belt

    1. Install the alternator belt (B).

    2. Pull the alternator and install the screw (A).

    3. Tighten the screws (A) and (C) to specification:
