Replace Engine Oil Filter

IMPORTANT: If John Deere Plus-50™ II oil is used, the engine oil replacement interval can be extended from 250 to 500 hours. The 500 hours extended oil change interval is only allowed if all the following conditions are met:

  • Use a diesel fuel with sulfur content less than 5000 mg/kg (5000 ppm)
  • Use John Deere Plus-50™ II oil
  • Use an approved John Deere oil filter

  1. Park machine and shut off the engine.

  2. Remove the ignition key from the key switch.

  3. Access the engine compartment. (See Access to Engine Compartment in Access to Service Points section.)

  4. Remove the engine oil filter (A).

  5. Coat the sealing rings (C) of the new engine oil filter with clean engine oil.

    IMPORTANT: Do not excessively overtighten the engine oil filter. Doing so damages the sealing rings (C).

  6. Tighten the engine oil filter (A) by hand until the sealing rings (C) touches the housing surface. Then tighten 1/2 turn by hand.

  7. Clean the engine oil filter (A) and the filter housing (B).
