Tread Adjust System Troubleshooting

Tread adjusts are not functioning

Speed is not in the first range

Shift to first speed range.

 

Blown fuse

Replace fuse.

 

Faulty switch

Replace switch.

 

Low engine rpm

Increase rpm to 2400.

 

Low hydrostatic/hydraulic oil level

Fill up the reservoir to the specified level. Check the system for leaks.

 

Faulty tread adjust valve

See your John Deere dealer.

 

Faulty hydraulic pump

See Hydraulic System Troubleshooting in this Section or see your John Deere dealer.

One individual tread adjust does not function, but others do

Damaged, or corroded electrical connection

Repair, replace, or clean electrical connection.

 

Damaged electrical harness

Repair harness.

 

Faulty solenoid valve

Replace the coil or see your John Deere dealer.

 

Loose shim on axle tread

Properly adjust the shim gap on axle tread.

 

Stuck knee

Lubricate with graphite spray.

 

Check stuck valve in the load sense line

Clean, repair, or replace the valve.

 

Broken, damaged, or worn shim pads

See your John Deere dealer.

 

Clogged orifice in the hydraulic line

Replace the orifice.

 

Faulty tread adjust diode

Replace the diode.

 

Faulty tread adjust valve

See your John Deere dealer.

 

Faulty tread adjust cylinder

See your John Deere dealer.

One individual tread adjust does not stop when the switch is released

Sticking, or faulty switch

Replace the switch.

 

Sticking hydraulic spool

Clean, repair, or replace.

 

Faulty solenoid valve

Repair or replace solenoid valve.

Excessive front tire wear, or poor row tracking

Improper front axle toe-in adjustment

Adjust the front axle toe-in.
