Adjusting Park Brake

  1. Park machine safely. See Parking Safely in Safety Section.

  2. NOTE: Adjust park brake after the Adjusting Brakes procedure has been completed.

    Adjust service brake linkage. See Adjusting Brakes in this section.

    A - Jam Nuts

    B - Brake Cable

    F - Brake Rod Yoke

    G - Bolts

    H - Park Brake Switch

    With park brake handle in fully lowered position, adjust jam nuts (A) on brake cable (B) so that intermediate bellcrank (C) is rotated as far forward (D) at the top as it will go.



  4. Be certain that there is no slack in brake cable and tighten jam nuts (A).

  5. Loosen nut (E), and adjust the brake rod yoke (F) at the intermediate bellcrank (C) so that there is no free play. Tighten nut (E).

  6. Loosen two bolts (G), and adjust the park brake switch (H) position so that it is not engaged when the park brake handle is in the fully lowered position and so that it engages within 2-4 clicks of raising park brake handle.

  7. Check that the park brake is properly set by verifying the engine stalls with the transmission in high range when the park brake handle is in the fully engaged (raised) position.
