Using Dual Selective Control Valve Lever

CAUTION: Avoid injury! Overheated hydraulic oil can cause personal injury and component malfunctions. To prevent hydraulic oil from overheating, DO NOT hold multi-function control lever in operating position for an extended period of time.

Dual selective control valve (SCV) lever (A) controls any hydraulically driven device connected to mid selective control valve (SCV), most commonly a loader.

  1. NOTE: When digging and moving heavy materials, first rollback, then raise. This provides full pressure to each circuit and will be more productive.

4M and 4R series tractors use a regenerative dump function to increase dump speed, and eliminate cavitation or loose motion of the bucket at low engine speeds. This position will always extend a cylinder, regardless of how the two hoses are connected. Do not use this function for single acting cylinders, or any hydraulic motor.

The 4M and 4R series tractor use a series boom valve to give faster cycle times at moderate engine speeds. This also enhances return to dig speed, and bucket leveling during the raise cycle.

A - Selective Control Valve Lever

    B - Front—Boom Lower

    C - Back—Boom Raise

    D - Left—Bucket Rollback (Curl)

    E - Right—Bucket Tilt (Dump)

    F - Two-Function Zone

    G - Slow Speed

    H - Fast Speed

    I - Detented “Float” Position

    J - Third-Function Operations

A single function operates when selective control valve lever (A) is moved straight away from center, in one of four primary directions (front, back, left, or right).

    • Front—Boom Lower (B)
      • Full-front (I) is a detented position used for “float” operations.
    • Back—Boom Raise (C)
    • Left—Bucket Rollback (Curl) (D)
    • Right—Bucket Tilt (Dump) (E)

  2. Two functions operate simultaneously when lever is moved at 45° angles from primary directions, into a two-function zone (F). Two-function zones are: Boom Lower/Bucket Dump, Bucket Dump/Boom Raise, Bucket Curl/Boom Lower.

  3. When lever is released to spring-centered neutral position, mid-mount valve holds boom and bucket in position.

  4. Cylinder operating speed depends on how far from center the control lever is moved. When lever is first moved from center, hydraulic functions operate at slow speed (G), then move progressively faster as lever is moved farther away from center, out to fast speed (H) operating position.

  5. Third function operations (J), can be performed simultaneously with any single and two-function operations.

“Float”: Push lever full forward into detent when “float” is desired. “Float” position (I) allows loader boom to move up and down freely while traveling over rough ground. Manually return lever to neutral when “float” is no longer needed.

Selective Control Valve (SCV) Lever Lock—OOS

A - Selective Control Valve (SCV) Lever Lock

B - 0 Position

C - 1 Position

D - 2 Position

CAUTION: To prevent loader movement, engage selective control valve (SCV) lever lock (A) before dismounting tractor. Selective control valve lever must be in center (neutral) position for lock to engage.

Selective control valve (SCV) lever lock does not lock out switch-operated third-function hydraulics, which are active anytime the key is ON.

Selective control valve (SCV) lever lock (A) allows the operator to control the type of dual SCV lever movement needed for a particular operation or situation. Operation of the SCV lever lock is indicated on SCV lever lock label.

• To prohibit movement of SCV lever in all directions, move SCV lever lock in to the 0 position (B). Operation of the SCV is totally locked.

• To prohibit engagement of the regen (regeneration) function of the SCV, move lever lock to the middle or 1 position (C). This position is recommended for all implements except the front loader. Heavily loaded loader buckets will dump more rapidly when the regen function is engaged. The regen function is available only with the lever lock in 2 position (D).

• To allow movement of SCV lever in all directions, move SCV lever lock to the 2 position (D). Operation of the SCV is totally unlocked.

• To prohibit movement of dual SCV lever in all directions, make sure SCV lever (B) is in center position, and press the SCV lever lock (A) to the in position (C). Operation of the dual SCV is totally locked.

• To allow movement of dual SCV lever in all directions, move SCV lever lock to the center position (D). Operation of the dual SCV is totally unlocked.

• To prohibit engagement of the regen (regeneration) function of the dual SCV, pull the lever lock to the out position (E). This position is recommended for all implements except the front loader. Heavily loaded loader buckets will dump more rapidly when the regen function is engaged.

NOTE: After extended use, the dual SCV lever may require cable adjustment to lock out.
