Check Auger Gear Case Oil Level

NOTE: Snowblowers have two different types of auger gear cases. One has the check plug option and the other does not. Refer to the correct procedure for your snowblower.

Snowblowers Equipped with Check Plug:

1. Park tractor safely.

   A - Check Plug

   B - Fill Plug

   Remove the check plug (A).

3. IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Check the vent hole in the fill plug when checking oil level. Vent hole must be clear of obstructions. Obstructed vent hole builds pressure in gear case and causes gear case to leak.

   Ensure that oil is level with check plug hole.

4. Remove the fill plug (B).

5. Add recommended transmission oil as needed.

6. Install and tighten the fill plug and check plug.

Snowblowers without Check Plug:

1. Park tractor safely.

2. Remove the fill plug (B). Keep oil level 25.4 mm (2 in) from the top fill hole.

3. Add recommended transmission oil as needed.

4. Install and tighten the fill plug.
