Removing and Installing Battery
Removing:
-
Park machine safely.
-
Raise hood.
-
Remove side panels.
-
Disconnect headlight harness at fan shroud.

Remove and retain grille mounting cap screws and nuts (A).

Slide grill up.
-
CAUTION: Sulfuric acid in battery electrolyte is poisonous.
It is strong enough to burn skin, eat holes in clothing, and cause
blindness if splashed into eyes. Avoid the hazard by:
-
Filling batteries in a well-ventilated area.
-
Wearing eye protection and rubber gloves.
-
Avoiding breathing fumes when electrolyte is added.
-
Avoiding spilling or dripping electrolyte.
-
Use proper jump start procedure.
If you spill acid on yourself:
-
Flush your skin with water.
-
Apply baking soda or lime to help neutralize the acid.
-
Flush your eyes with water for 15—30 minutes. Get medical
attention immediately.
If acid is swallowed:
-
Do not induce vomiting.
-
Drink large amounts of water or milk, but do not exceed 2 L
(2 quarts).
-
Get medical attention immediately.

B - Negative (-) Cable
C - Positive Terminal Cover
D - Hold Down Bracket
E - Vent Tube
Disconnect black negative (-) cable (B) from battery terminal
first.

Slide red positive terminal cover (C) back and disconnect red
positive (+) cable from battery terminal.

Remove hold down bracket (D) from both sides of battery tray.
-
Pull battery vent tube (E) from battery tray.
-
Remove battery.
Installing:
-
Position battery in machine.
-
Route battery vent tube through hole in battery tray.
-
Install hold down brackets securing battery to battery tray.
-
Connect positive (+) cable to battery first, then attach negative
(-) cable to battery.
-
Apply spray lubricant on battery terminals to help prevent corrosion.
-
Position red positive battery terminal cover on red positive
(+) cable.
-
Slide grill back into position.
-
Install grille mounting cap screws and nuts.
-
Connect headlight harness at fan shroud.
-
Install side panels.
-
Lower hood.
