Cold-Weather Start
IMPORTANT: Avoid engine damage! The glow plugs and air heater
are operational during starting. Damage to the engine results from
using ether or starter fluid.
IMPORTANT: Starter damaged results if operated for more than
20 seconds at a time:
-
If the engine does not start, wait two minutes before trying
again.
IMPORTANT: Run the engine for several minutes to allow the engine
and transmission oil to reach operating temperature to avoid damage
in cold weather.
NOTE: It is normal for the engine to be louder and for blue-white
exhaust smoke to be present during the engine warm-up procedure. The
amount of exhaust smoke depends on air temperature.
-
Turn the ignition key switch to the run position.
-
When the glow plug light turns off, turn the key to the start
position. Release the key after the engine has started. If the engine
does not start, wait two minutes before trying again.
-
Check the indicator lights:
-
To warm the engine, set the hand throttle to 1/2 throttle position
for 5 minutes without load.
